Sledging

As soon as temperatures fall and the first snow has settled, the pass roads and hiking trails become inviting sledging runs. The valley has three official sledge runs as well as shorter runs. The well-known sledge run from Preda to Bergün alongside the Albula railway section (which was added to the UNESCO World Heritage list in summer 2008) is also nearby.

A brief introduction to the region’s main sledge runs:

Muottas Muragl
4.2 km long, 705 m height difference with over 20 curves, from Muottas Muragl to Punt Muragl. Sledge rental at the Muottas Muragl bottom station. Open daily from 9.30 to 16.00 h (depending on snow and visibility conditions). Not suitable for small children.

La Punt
The Albulastrasse, closed to traffic in winter, offers a 2.5 km sledge run above La Punt. But first you have to earn it: the start can only be reached on foot.

Zernez
Munt Baselgia. Guests are transported up to the top with special sledges pulled by a jeep. At the top, the little La Striette tavern serves mulled wine, grilled sausages and also fondue if ordered in advance.

Preda – Bergün
Hourly with the Rhaetian Railway to Preda (from St. Moritz approx. 20 min. train journey). Sledge rental at Preda railway station, sledge return at Bergün. Course: 5 km long, 400 m height difference. Hourly return service to the Engadine from Bergün. Thanks to floodlights, the run can also be made at night.
