The king in the snow - Origen Festival Cultural 2014
The snow-covered landscape of the Engadin becomes magnificent stage for the ancient legend of The King in the Snow. Amidst the white splendour of winter, surrounded by giant mountains, the young King Charles fights for his survival.
The great ruler of the middle ages, who has just brilliantly won against the Lombards, becomes a victim of the forces of nature. A snow storm prevents the continuation of the royal company´s journey. Charles suffers from feverish fantasies. His wife fears for his life. A golden, wind-exposed palace houses the dream play, opening the view to the wide lake scenery of the Engadin and narrating a story of melancholy and wanderlust.
The debut of the open-air music theatre is shown by Origen, the award-winning theatre manufactory of Grisons. In the past, Origen has already set new standards with its performance of ?Regina da Saba? on the Julier Pass. The artistic experiment will now be continued.
