Kulm unveiled the Alpine Sports Lounge & Boutique, designed by Foster + Partners. Reimagining the traditional ski room, it combines state-of-the-art equipment, a bar, ski concierge service and a sports boutique to elevate your experience on and off the slopes.
On the lower level, a new Restaurant Foyer will create a central point connecting the Sunny Bar & Grill, Amaru by Claudia Canessa and the Pizzeria, alongside a new Kulm Boutique. The new space will bring together dining, retail and the flow through this part of the hotel in a contemporary interpretation of Kulm’s historic architecture.
The historic Corviglia event spaces will be reimagined by Eric Egan as a new multifunctional ballroom designed for celebrations, weddings, gatherings and major events. Flexible by design yet unmistakably Kulm in character, the new Corviglia Ballroom will provide an exceptional setting for occasions of different scales and formats.
A completely new lake-facing restaurant will become one of the hotel’s defining spaces, complemented by an elegant new winter garden. Designed to make the most of Kulm’s setting, it will bring together grand hotel tradition, contemporary comfort and expansive views across St. Moritz.
The much-loved Mongiardino Lobby Lounge will be renovated and extended, creating a generous heart of the hotel for meeting, relaxing and spending time throughout the day. New south- and lake-facing terraces will extend the experience outdoors, with exceptional views across St. Moritz and the Engadin landscape.
The arrival at Kulm will be reimagined with a new entrance by Foster + Partners. Within the hotel, Eric Egan will redesign the existing reception and concierge areas, respecting the historic architecture and established flow of the spaces while introducing his distinctive approach to the interiors.
Redesigned by Martin Brûlé, the Altitude Bar will remain in its familiar location with a new design and concept. A destination for evenings at the Kulm, it will bring distinctive interiors and a fresh atmosphere to the classic grand hotel bar.
A dedicated new smokers’ lounge by Martin Brûlé will offer an intimate and beautifully considered retreat within the hotel, conceived as a distinctive destination in its own right.
Designed by Foster + Partners, the new shopping arcade will transform street life on the Via Maistra, extending the heart of St. Moritz for visitors, locals and guests. Surrounding landscape design and reimagined gardens will connect the Kulm Country Club with the hotel.
Kulm has always evolved.
Since its beginnings in St. Moritz, each generation has contributed to the hotel, responding to the way people travel, gather and experience the mountains while preserving the spirit that is Kulm’s own.
The next chapter continues that tradition.
Working with Foster + Partners, alongside interior designers Eric Egan and Martin Brûlé, we are carefully reimagining a collection of Kulm’s most important spaces, celebrating the character and heritage of the hotel while creating a new expression of Alpine hospitality for generations to come.
The result will not be a new Kulm, but a renewed Kulm:
more generous, more connected to its extraordinary surroundings and ready for its next chapter.
The Kulm Masterplan
Between 2025 and 2030, Kulm Hotel St. Moritz is being renewed in stages, modernized for the way guests travel today while its heritage stays intact.
Summer 2027: a pause, then a new arrival
In summer 2027, the hotel will close temporarily for the most significant transformation in its history. We will reopen in time for the winter season 2027/28.
The final chapter
The last phase of the masterplan adds a shopping arcade with underground parking, and a redesigned garden landscape around the hotel.
Built on what is already here
Sustainability guides this project from the first decision, not the last. Ten themes shape the work, among them energy efficiency, water conservation, mobility and our impact on the local community. In practice, that means reusing the existing structures wherever possible, choosing energy-efficient systems and sustainable materials, and designing to keep the ecological footprint as small as we can. We work with local craftspeople and use local materials wherever we can, such as Alpine stone pine and granite. The most responsible building is often the one already standing, so we are renewing Kulm rather than replacing it.
