Youth Olympic Games Lausanne 2020

Thu, 09.01.2020 - Mon, 20.01.2020
From 9 to 22 January 2020, Lausanne will host the third Winter Youth Olympic Games. The bobsleigh, skeleton, tobogganing and speed skating contests take place in St. Moritz. After 1928 and 1948, St. Moritz thus becomes an Olympic venue once again.

The third Winter Youth Olympic Games, after Lillehammer and Innsbruck, will be held in Lausanne in 2020. The organisers expect a total of 1880 athletes aged between 15 and 18 from over 70 countries. Of these, 250 will compete for medals in St. Moritz. The Games will host two Olympic Youth Villages: one in Lausanne and the other in St. Moritz near the Youth Hostel.

Lausanne, with its ice hockey, figure skating and short track, is the heart of the Youth Olympic Games. In St. Moritz the bobsleigh, skeleton and luge races as well as the speed skating competitions take place. For the first time in Olympic Winter Games history, the speed skating contests will be held on a frozen lake - Lake St. Moritz. The alpine and cross-country skiing, ski freestyle and snowboarding contests take place in the Vaud Alps. The Nordic skiing competitions are planned in Vallée de Joux on the one hand and in neighbouring France on the other.
